The Fifty West Mile kicks off Flying Pig Marathon weekend and is the second leg of the TQL Beer Series, the three-race event celebrating Cincinnati’s rich brewing history and benefiting the Over-the-Rhine Brewery District. Everyone is invited to take part in the Fifty West Mile, whether you walk or run.

The Fifty West Mile starts inside the Riverfront Transit Tunnel which you can enter from Central Ave. just north of W Pete Rose Way and north of Paul Brown Stadium. The course goes through the transit tunnel and then out towards Mehring Way where it ends near the Anderson Pavilion. After you finish the race, join us on the lawn at Smale Riverfront Park, where you’ll find food, a variety of Fifty West beers, and a great after-party!


Packet pickup will open on the east plaza level of Paul Brown Stadium starting at 5:00 PM. The start line is approximately a half-mile walk from packet pickup.


The event includes an elite field with prize money for the top three overall male and female finishers. For more information on participating as an elite, please see the Elite Section below.

Parking on Friday evening will be available after 5:00 PM for Lot A ($5.00) and Central Riverfront Garage ($15.00).


The post-race party will take place at Smale Riverfront Park. Participants will again be welcomed to the party with beer from Fifty West Brewing Company and Skyline Chili Cheese Coneys.


The TQL Beer Series benefits the Over-The-Rhine Brewery District Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation. It is a non-profit organization committed to making the Brewery District a healthy, balanced, and supportive neighborhood economy by preserving, restoring, and redeveloping our unique brewing history and historic urban fabric. The Cincinnati Brewing Heritage Trail is the organization’s signature plan, highlighting the historic buildings that helped create Cincinnati’s rich brewing history.


  • All registered participants will receive a shirt, two Fifty West Brewing Company beer tickets, and a Skyline Chili Cheese Coney (must be redeemed at the Post-Race Party)
  • Timing chip: the timing chip is included on your bib. For those participating in the series, a finish time is needed to be eligible for Brew Hog status.
  • The Fifty West Mile finishers will receive a medal that doubles as a bottle opener!
  • There is no baggage claim for the Fifty West Mile.

2023 Elite Program Overview

On Friday, May 5th the Flying Pig Marathon will host the third leg of the TQL Beer Series, the Fifty West Mile. That event will culminate with two elite fields, men and women, at approximately 7:45 PM.

The elite fields will be by invitation only. Men that can run 4:30 min/mile or faster and women that can run 5:30 min/mile or faster can submit an application to be considered for the field.

Each elite field will consist of 15 participants. These participants will be selected by the fastest submitted qualifying times with at least 7 spots in each field reserved for local participants. Local participants will be those defined as having a mailing address (no PO Box) with zip codes that begin these three numbers:  410, 470, 450, 451, or 452. Potential participants should submit their best 2021 1500, mile, or 5K time as well as their personal bests in each of these events. Include date and location when achieved. The first 10 to register in each elite field will receive a free ASICS jacket.


Prize money will be offered for the Fifty West Mile on Friday, May 5th. The prize purse for both males and females will be as follows:

1st Place: $600
2nd Place: $250
3rd Place: $150
Top local participant: $250

Only the fastest time in the elite fields of the Fifty West Mile will be eligible to win prize money. A local participant that places in the top 3 overall will be eligible for both the top local participant prize money as well as the top 3 prize money. Timing and prize money for the Fifty West Mile will be based on gun timing.


If you would like to be considered for the elite field, please complete the application form by April 15. On April 15, elite participants will be contacted to confirm their spot in the field. They will be required to register for the Fifty West Mile on www.flyingpigmarathon.com by May 1, and will not be charged. For questions please email jeanette@flyingpigmarathon.com.
